The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • My Mk2 Golf GTI 16V

    OK,

So picked up this beauty of a car a few weeks ago in Melbourne (from a member on here - some of you are probably already familiar with the car), and what an amazing car it is! Surprisingly (or not?), it's so much different to the e30. I haven't driven a front wheel drive car for a while so still getting used to it. The acceleration is amazing, I was expecting it to be quick but it's actually way quicker than I thought it was going to be. The engine sounds great. It is overall in great condition, credit where it's due - the previous owner had kept her in great nick.

So I gave her a good wash, polish and wax (haven't finished with that, yet), some forever black on the bumpers and trims (not very impressed with this product as it leaves pretty noticeable streaks, but they should come out with a good buff) and a good clean of the interior.

Future plans are just looking after and enjoying her. Possible mods are just a slight drop and maybe the 15 inch RSs from the e30 (planning on getting 16 inch RSs for the Bimmer) - but no rush with any of this. Will probably upgrade the speakers and head unit (Definitely no cutouts in the parcel shelf! Just replace the standard). Smoked front and side indicators are on their way. Also, will be ordering new personalised rego plates soon.

Some minor issues to resolve mainly to do with broken trim bits, very minor, nothing I shouldn't be able to get off ebay.

Enjoy the pics (taken today - beautiful weather in Darwin at the moment!)

    Dom

          Thanks guys

The garage even has a ceiling fan for those extra hot, wet season days.

Just a few extra notes on the car, it's been converted to large bumper by the previous owner but the front fogs were never wired up (presume originally came without the fogs as there is no wiring or relay in the fuse box) so I'm looking at getting some air vents (such as those made by SWG) to replace the 'dummy' fogs.

Also managed to score some brand new genuine VW floor mats which are currently on their way from the UK.

The more I think about it, the more I want RSs for it as well (and an inch drop)...

                        Cheers mate

I replaced the dash in my e30 last year, but some very small cracks are starting to appear on this one as well - will leave it for now though.

I could be interested in the OBC provided you've got the complete loom, temp sensor, etc.

Thanks mate! I don't believe it's got spacers on it, no, definitely not on the front (checked).

Won't be getting much for it in terms of used parts, as everything is pretty much spot on (apart from the mentioned previously). If not eBay, what websites would you recommend for parts?

Looks a bit further out than mine, maybe it's just the rears.
                              As for websites, there's
