Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Jetta Makeover

Bought my 06 Jetta TFSI a month ago and unfortunately have found various issues which needed fixing (wheels 30-40% thread, gutter rash on wheels, leaking front shocks, CV boot on the way out, lipped front rotors). Not sure how the previous owner got a road worthy but anyways, this has given me the opportunity to have a mini makeover without any questions from the other half

    Plan
    1. New wheels - 18 detroits (fitted)
    2. Coilovers - HPA SHS, done
    3. CV boot - done
    4. New RDA slotted rotors all round aka Jmac
    5. Bluefin - done
    6. Eurosport Tuning intake - done
    7. RCS510 - pending
    8. Upgraded DV - pending

    Now for some pics:
    Before

    After new wheels

    With coilovers

Will post more proper pictures after the rest is done

Wheat beige. Can look quite dark or light depending on light. Don't know many wheat beige jettas being modded so happy to be special

Detroits really suit that, be nice when dunked a bit. Nice work so far, what i seen tonight in the dark was a lot of cleaning effort FTW.

Thinking of changing my front grill to a black one. Can't decide on a design. Any ideas?

              g'day Boon,

I didn't realise that you bought a Jetta till I read your post.
The part you bought was sent on wednesday, you'll receive it just after easter I reckon.

It's a bit of a pain in the a$$ to install, took me around 2hrs to do.
There's a bit of info on the net about what tools you need.

Patience and a nice light source under the car is also highly recommended.

All the best with your mods, looks great already!

Depends on what you want. I have the Wolfsburg grill on my car and it suits quite well, but I also reckon the GTI grill would look good. I have both here if you're wanting to try them on before you commit to anything Oh and I'd love to hear your filter when you get it, I'm still undecided as to what to get. Oh and you'll definitely have to come along to a meet/cruise one day soon, we need more Jetta rep

Here's a pic of my Wolfsburg grill:

Anytime buddy, just hit me up via PM and we'll sort something out. Flashing it is like buying a completely new car, isn't it? I love it so much more now and I'm sure you agree it's probably the best thing you can do to your car
