  • Jarred's Mk 2 VR6

    Hey all,

Since I didn't do a build thread, I thought I'd whack up a pic thread for my Mk 2 VR6.

Havn't got many shots yet, but here are a couple from SEDF and they day after. Cheers burgs for the good shots!

Havn't taken any other shots or done much work on it recently (been a touch busy with some other things) and uni is back next week. There are a few things that need to be finished off, then I'll take it to get engineered. Hopefully it'll be 'done', well legal at least, in a month or two.

Also a big thanks to Tim for heaps of help and assistance!

I'll also try to endevour to get some more shots soon.

    Jarred

Was nice to see the "stock restored" MK2 roll out at SEDF.
Has come up a treat and I was unsure the 17s would work.... I was wrong

                            Thanks guys.

The conversion took alot longer than I had first expected. Ran into a lot of smaller problems, like brake line threads being different sizes between mk 2 and mk 3. Making the wiring fit too, is a pain, since the mk 3 & 2 are routed rather different in the bay. And alot of other smaller things. Like making a braket to hold the rad fan fuse & relay, all those things take alot longer than you exepect, & add significant time to a conversion.

Took me about a good 6-8 weeks, working an average of about 4 or 5 hours per day. This obviously included alot of trial fitting, mocking stuff up, fitting then removal etc etc. I think I've put the engine in and out about 6 times, atleast! Fitted new clutch and timing chain whilst it was out, but havn't even serviced it fully yet! On the list of things to do, which is still significant, but slowly getting smaller and smaller!

and you did it so quietly as well!

Any other major plans after engineering?
