Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

          Never seen one in Oz before. Is it a Jap import?

          What wheels are going to be tucking? Sounds like it'll be a dope ride!

              its running rough at the moment, needs a major service, k-jet tune + RWC
              plus i washed the engine pay just now so its playing up a bit, but did run pretty good

              well it doesnt come with log books but theres stickers with asian writing all over it, plus the previous owners says it was imported from NZ so i guess it was originally from japan, then shipped to NZ then shipped to australia

              the rims ive got for this badboy are a set of auto strada modenas in 17x7.5 and 8's

              the front clear fine with some possible rim tuckage, but the 8's with the 52 offset hit the rear beam, so i need to space them out by 10-15mm once they are bolted on, but the most important thing to get right is tyre choice, the thinner the better.....

                    nice one dom, very unique. I love the front ends on these cars, they look futuristic in a retro kind of way (if that makes sense).

                    love your dedication to the vw scene, cant wait to see the progress on this.

                    bags = awesome

                      Not much you can do in a K-jet tune on these Dom. I have the KE-motronic VW manual somewhere in the garage. Let me know if you want it to take a copy.

                      Have a look at the rear bush in the front wishbones. I'd be surprised if they don't need doing.

                      I have had loads of these wagons, including a G60, 9A, 2Es and 2 1.8GTs. Australia missed out on a really good/useful car with these.

                      Cheers

                          They have a metering head Jarred, it's on the left side of the engine bay photos, with plastic cover on it. Just behind the headlight.

                          The thing with this version is that it has lambda control and can be chipped unlike the KR engines. There is block on the side of the metering head that controls fuel pressure and therefore mixture. It also has knock sensing.
