Welcome to the forum Mik. Another Tassie!
Good to see another rare one here that's for sure & one that's in pretty original & good nic by the look's of it.
Alway's loved the 80's quattro's & the distinctive 5 cyl. noise to go with them, especially love the short wheel base sport quattro.
That looks like a mid 80's. Does it have the digital dash?
no it doesn't have the digi dash (happily for me) its an 82 and that didn't happen till 83. well actually when tehy went to RHD in 82... the made 17 cars like mine then swithches to digi dash and signle rather than quad lights... supposedly...
The ur-Quattro is one of my favorites. Confession time - I've owned two of these!
The first one was a 1983 - single headlights, pre-abs, analogue instruments, silver with brown cloth and sunroof. I was living in Switzerland at the time and went to London to buy this car so it would be RHD as I planned to take it to Australia, which I did in 1988. I was returning to Europe in early 1989 so I sold it to Audi of Sydney who used it as a display car for several years.
The second one was a 1985, with abs, digital instruments, metallic black with black leather. I also bought this in London (RHD again) and this one came to Australia in 1990. I had it in pieces for a while, mainly to fit air conditioning using all factory parts, many of which are shared with the Audi 5+5 which made it a little easier!
I was in touch with a few other ur-Quattro owners in Sydney, I have a photo somewhere of 8 ur-Quattros parked in the forcourt of the Sydney Opera house (including my two) with the harbour bridge in the background early one Sunday morning.
Last I heard both cars are still around, the silver one in Sydney and the black one in Adelaide. I've seen your car before in Sydney (around 1991?) - there can't be another 82 RHD in that colour in Australia!
thanks all . love my car, only had it since march where i bought it from sydney (off ebay no less!!! hahaha). it truly is my dream car, i have wnated one since i was 12. sold a VERY loud red Subaru RS turbo to pay for it... an its much better than that for sure (apart from the broken bits )
oh and its not an RX3 but an aston next to it in the workshop...
