    My Mk3 VR6 VR06VW

    Hey guys,

    I've had the VR6 for about 1 1/2 years now and I love it

    It had about 98 000Km's when I got it but it was in below average condition, very below average. I've had a 2" exhaust fitted straight from the cat back to the rear muffler (no center muffler). I haven't made any mechanical changes other than that. I'm running Redline Gearbox/Dif oil which is the best thing ever!

    There'd be heaps you could do to this.... even just a CAI lobbed on

        Nice one, and in arguably the best MK3 colour. I wish mine was green instead of burgundy !

          This is my daily driver and I plan on keeping the car for a long time, so I think that later on down the track I will venture into the world of mods, probably when I no longer need to use the car for every day duties and can play around with it.

          I contemplated CAI for a while... you know I think I would rather buy a stock air box from a wrecker, cut a circle out of the side or bottom and run some flexible piping under the front bumper... (like what they used to do on old datos and rx2/3's if you know what I mean). The thing is that the engine bay is very cramped and heats up quickly so I wouldn't want to be drawing hot air in. I'd be happy for feedback on some CAI's. There is that kit by Carbonio(I think thats their name) that runs a pipe down to draw air in from below, but anyway I'll see how it goes

            Very clean!

            As for your airbox idea, that's what I have done, with the "circle" cutout is directed away from the engine. Replacing the stock paper panel filter with a K&N would help too I suppose.
            Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
            Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

              Nice ride man, tis quite le tidy. I'd say go for the airbox mod, you'll get nice throttle response and probably do the car a generous favour

                  Yep, thats exacly what I was thinking. I might give it a go next week.
