            Hi all
I like the colour and considering it's the original paint from the factory it would be a shame to change. I read with intrest peoples observations and comments of Rachel's Golf.
I'd like to share some of the cars history with those who are interested.
Purchased from Avondale Motors in Dandenong Vic on 01.03.76 for $4253. With a build date of 2/76 I think this would make it fairly early in the production run of Golfs. This obviously makes it a swallowtail which I'd always referred to as an LS till I joined this site. It has a few differences from other swallowtails I've seen and they are, no lining material on the inside rear quarter panels, light in the glovebox, no heat shield on the front part of the exhaust system, sender unit for the fuel gauge is in the side of the fuel tank not the top. Under the bonnet it has a sensor in the flywheel inspection plug which connects to the plug that's on the left hand strut tower which I guess is to connect the diagnostic equipment of the day into. It has the radiator without the cap and the header tank arrangement.
It had never had a radio fitted in it and it was purchased from the original owner in August, 07 still with its original rego. It came with the original receipt, paperwork and service history. I think it's a great example of an early Golf and I'm rapt that since joining this site, Rachel is appreciating it more than ever.
            Cheers,
Geoff (Rache's ol' man...the bloke with the rally car)

PS, we all know who you are (on the forum atleast), as running a rally car makes you a popular point of conversation!

The red grill strip is only compatible with White/Black/Silver.
Either repaint your car to one of these or get rid of the red line.

                  Very interesting Geoff.

I'll have to swing by and show you my car one day. It's a 76er as well, but doesn't have a the rear panel, but also has many of the other early golf features. There are also a few you may have missed too!

After seeing it the other week, I can hardly believe the condition it's in! stupidly hard to find one in that kidna condition these days!
