  • RIPed Golf

OK, seeing as i'm a bit nOOb here and as i'm snooping aboot for a project vehicle, I thought i'd post up a couple of pics of my old car - a peachy little '76 LS.
It started off by being my friend's dad buying this neat little low-mileage 1-owner original & immaculate car, which he used for the next few months to drive to the mines up here. I bought it for $500 after it started running like a dog... The oil pump had siezed.

No matter to me, as after a couple of phone calls I landed an overly "warm" rebuilt GTI motor. I never was told 'exact' specs on it, but it idled like a V8, was a pig to drive in traffic & would quite happily light the front tyres in 3rd gear if you booted the throttle to the floor at 4500rpm...

Don't ask the top speed - I was never game enough to test it with stock suspension & the stuffed brakes...

I had it for a few more months until the drivability-in-traffic issue caused grief - I stalled it in the middle of an intersection & a old sh***ead in a mitsubishi van was reading the paper while driving...

    The end result being this

That was a few years ago. Many other rides have been & gone, including a pair of worked Suzuki Mightyboy's . I'm currently on a pair of Alfa Romeo's (a 33S and a 164 V6), but looking for something to tinker with.
Now my bastich friend has a Toledo & he's looking for a Golf project and he's got me involved...

And rekindled what used to be

Something VR6-based (ie, not stock) in a 4-door Golf is being considered, but it might get planted into a passat yet :p
    We'll see

Didn't hurt me, but the passenger was always complaining of back pain before the dingle - It's been great since then apparently.

Biggest pain was watching the scrap metal truck leaving with it.

The was told that the original colour was "Flipper Blue" by someone once (this may or may not be correct though). In such good nick that the surface felt as smooth as glass.

Loon - Got any Mk1 cabrios? I'll be in with that

Another one bites the dust. At least it wasn't a 2 door
          Good that nobody was hurt.

No motor - he hit me hard enough to crack the block. I opened it up to see what could be salvaged but in the end... it left with the rest of it

Damn you Midget. :p. Not flaming yet, but smouldering quite nicely.

Ouch!! I think you should thank the Wolfsburg Gods that you were in the Mk1 and NOT any of the mighty-boys!! My mum had a similar result when she stuck our 76 infront of a speeding Falcon, poor little golf was written off, mum was just shaken (Falcon drove home).

Good luck on the next project
