Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Clean VR6s are coming out of hiding! Car looks good - even better with some lowering!

Just wondering, how's the light output of those Mk5 look-alike headlights?
    Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

I got 8000k bulbs in them. They are pretty bright and have a nice xenon look to them, not like a dead blue look. The strip at the bottom is the parkers, they look pretty good just leaving them on :p

        Nice looking exhaust tips Tristan.

Who supplied your Remus system and what were the costs?

Did you ship the system in from OS?

        Regards,

        Syd.

I don't know the name of the place off heart, but i'll take a look through my 'VR6 File' tomorrow and let you know. It was done locally, in Brisbane.

            Hey Tristan
Great sample of a VR you have there, i was looking at your headlights very nice. do you know if they come with a crystal backing, as-apposed to black?

How much did your GIAC ECU set you back?

Hey BlueVR6, yeah you can get them with the "chrome" look. The GIAC chip cost me $300, got it from a mate overseas who had it on his VR6.

Thanks mate. Yeah, would definitely love to hear a rough idea of cost.
I'm considering upgrading to a Remus system. Did you go with the Remus Centre Resonator (suitcase) or a race pipe?

Mines 2 1/4" straight from the cat, just into a remus back box. It's not too loud suprisingly, but still has a nice VR6 note to it.

Got the backbox for $180, the cat back piping was $160. Remus backbox was from the UK, the rest of the system was installed by Rob Bliss Performance Exhausts in Geebung (Highly Recommended)

i have a remus system as well. it comprised of about 3 or 4 mufflers lol. still sounds loud but not too loud. still got pulled over for undue noise tho hahaha..."too throty" apparently

hey mate what profile are your tyres ? they are not the standard 205/55 are they , they look bigger, if so it will throw out your gearing and make you accell slower. might just be the photos tho ?
