  • My Q5/SQ5 conversion

I though id make a post up on here about my Q5/SQ5 project
A lot has been done so I thought Id share this
The story goes I really wanted a SQ5 but I did not want the TDI.
Being that the Q5 3.0 TFSI is basically a detuned SQ5 with a few cosmetics, I figured Id just get a Q5 and convert it to a American style SQ5 with the Supercharged V6.
So I eventually found a dirt cheep Supercharged Q5 at a dealer in Sydney and I jumped onto it right away and got to work.

First job I got onto was H&R lowering springs and bigger brakes.
Now I had either to go with the stock SQ5 setup or go with something a bit more and convert my front knuckles to the Porsche Macan style and have the 390mm factory Brembo option so I found a set of Macan knuckles from a wrecker and went with it

I also bought a set of the 3990mm calipers so I just need to get a pair of rotors

Also found a SQ5 with black trims from a wrecker and snatched em up.
These trims are absolutely so expensive and would of costed over $4000 to do.
So lucky I found these and no way I was going to budge wrap em.

Finally got stuck into the interior side of things such as carbon trims, SQ5 gauge faces and a SQ5 gear knob.
The gear knob was a bit of a scary thing to do being that you have to reposition the leaver lock to a forward facing.
After doing it I can say that its a very eazy thing to do and tuned out perfect.
All I did was heat the stick up a bit with a heat gun and slowly twist it in position. Its a Farley thick piece of plastic so it was pretty eazy to do.

Next I though it put my welding skills to work and do a muffler delete and install some big 4” black chrome tips
