Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T5 running ruff on start up

2005 1.9 T5, was running rough on starting but if driven for 10 min or more and turned off running smooth and ok.mech assumed running in 3 injectors and it was diesel injector problem. Injectors tested and no problems. Fault code showed bank one electrical fault. Taken to auto elec who said that no "pulse" to the injectors so had a look at the injector loom where he said it was dirty and some wires appeared loose. Cleaned and tightened.
On start up van running smooth unlike before but once driven anything under 2000 rpm in 2 3 or 4 gear van shudders. Once again if driven for 10 min or more and turned off van is running fine.
No one I've taken it to really has an idea of why.
    Any ideas ???
    Cheers

Could be carbon buildup on the intake, I am no expert but did see a vid on youtube about thos problem with all Vws due to the recirculation of exaust gases.
I could be wrong. I am by no means a mechanic
