I realize this post was many years ago, but do you still have info on the revised hose routing Markee?

I have a new valve on the way for my 2.0 single turbo, and would prefer to do everything all at once.

    thanks in advance!
Hey mate, no I don’t have any info, can’t even find the TPI.

I can only imagine though, that yours being a single turbo will be very different to the twin turbo version that I have.

    • Hi Markee.

What an awesome thread. Really appreciate all the info.
I'm also looking to purchase some Kings Springs + Bilstein B6 Offorad shocks as well for my 2008 VW Multivan 2.5 BPC 4 Motion 6 speed manual.

The part numbers I have are:
      2 x VN3 E242 - Bilstein B6 Front (Clamp Type Strut)2 x BE5-E035 - Bilstein B6 Shock absorbers
      2 x KVFR 19SP - Raised King Springs [front]
      2 x KVRR 18 - Raised King Springs [rear] (0 - 150Kg rating)

Are you able to share where you bought your:
      - additional 25mm shock spacers
      - diff lowering kit
from please? I see there are loads of places in UK/Europe selling them, but not so many over here?

      Thanks!

      • Hi Jimmy, cheers for the nice comments.

The spring spacers came from these guys in the UK about 3 years ago.
Funvans - VW van sales - kombi conversions - modifications - servicing - parts - swamper lift kits
You could try contacting them to see if they’re still manufacturing them?

And I never actually ordered or fitted a diff drop spacer kit. Haven’t had any issues so far.

          • Nice one. Just be aware that the diff drop kit is spacers only, you will still need to source longer bolts.

Transporter HQ used to supply the kit complete.

            • Well it has been a red hot minute hey?

              HALDEX CONTROLLERS.

Anyone else had one or use one?

I’ve recently installed one in my 2012 4Motion six speed manual with diff lock.

I’ve owned my van for 9 years, it’s modified a fair bit and I have taken it on some pretty adventurous drives over those years in mud, sand and snow.
A few years ago we moved to the Vic High Country and I frequent the ski fields in winter.
Having owned AWD Subarus for the last 20+ years I love the system they employ to get drive to all four wheels.
Now I’m not saying the VW 4Motion system is bad by any means but.…

Recently on a trip to Falls Creek we’d had a rather large dump of snow and the roads were covered.
Fitting chains is pretty normal for 2 wheel drives and optional for AWD and engaged 4WD’s unless conditions are really bad and then it’s chains on all vehicles no matter what.
On this day I took the option not to fit chains and found the going quite hard, being that traction was at the limit with the 4Motion system. As it only kicks in when front wheel speed is different to the rear, so there is a tiny lag in sending drive to the rear wheels. To overcome this I engaged the rear diff lock and that sends drive to the rear automatically and it essentially becomes an AWD, but, with a locked rear diff. It works ok but when traction got better, ie. both rear wheels gripped on a corner, chatter hits and it is not great for the driveline with the diff locked on.

I purchased a Van der Veer Haldex Controller 2nd hand but unused recently and installed it a few weeks ago. Last weekend I went for a ski over at Mount Hotham after another huge dump of snow.
The Great Alpine Rd to Hotham has to be up there with one of the most exposed and dangerous roads to drive on in Winter. On this occasion though, I was non plussed at all. The new Haldex Controller made the driving way more predictable and much easier and safer to control. It effectively turns the system into a constant AWD.
It is controlled with app on my phone via Bluetooth and you can adjust the way the Haldex unit works in multiple ways, like speed, boost, etc. I chose just to lock the drive at 50/50 and it works a treat. No diff lock needed at all!
There’s an option to turn off the Haldex system completely as well, so, for instance you could put it on a chassis dyno and drive only the front wheels. Or, there is pass through, which is stock mode, operating as VW intended.

Next mission is to get it off-road again and hit some local 4WD tracks I’v already done and see how much better it is and also get back to the sand dunes.

              Thoughts, questions, ideas?

              Cheers Markee
