Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T5 Crewvan rear a/c vents

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone with a T5 Crewvan (van not cab-chassis) could comment on the quality of airflow through the B-pillar a/c vents. As part of my van update shopping starts to get more serious I am considering a Crewvan as it comes with factory 2nd row seats and wing doors is also available for forklift loading. It includes small air vents in the b-pillar. Or I buy a regular van and option things like last time and rely on the dashboard vents to cool backseat passengers.

They do work but they Dont pump out air like the front does, anything is better than nothing, but you can also live without them. What are they charging? Mine came in the comfort pack I think.

Thanks, I think that because you have a dual cab they might be standard.

Thanks, which leads me to think a retro fit could be possible.

The rear vents in my 2007 Crewvan do very little, the only way to get cool air to the back seat is blast from the front with the fan on full.

Al the air comes from the front. If the front vents are open fully, the air flow to the rear is subsequently reduced. I've have kids in the rear, so what i do is block all front vents, cool down the rear for a bit, then open the front vents onto the windscreen, which blows cold air up and over the top to the rear as well as front passengers.

I'm definitely glad to have crewvan. I need the rear seats, and the standard upgrades like 17" wheels/ brakes, 132Kw engine, rear air con and cruise control were worthwhile for me.
