  • Dietrich goes to Broken Hill - Again.

Earlier this month we spent a week in Broken Hill form the 8th to 15th April 2008. We had spent a week there two years earlier, and having enjoyed the City so much, decided to return (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2651146).

Thia is an epic journey which will take a bit of time to post, so pop in every now & then and have a look.

    The Map.

    Day1.

Dietrich, the Green T4 attached to the trailer.

A quick stop at Hallett. I couldn't resist the Kelpie minding the 2 sheep.

We stopped at Terowie and I took this pic outside the old Imperial Hotel. We stayed there many times in the early 80s, as we were friendly with the owners. Alas, it is now closed.

The changes to Dietrich and the trailer are evident in this pic.

Steam Train water tower at Oodla Wirra. Fruit Inspection Station is located here.

                  On the road to Yunta.

Going though Yunta. Not much here, but it does have a Hotel.

This is Mannahill. Still has its impressive Railway Station.

                  Only 155kms to go.

Flashing red & blue lights coming fast....what's going on? It was a Mitsubishi Magna.

Then another, on the wrong side of the road to make sure I pulled over.

The w-i-d-e load is the cause...

Thanks Brenton, it was a good trip. It's great country to drive though, plenty of nice scenery.

                        20kms to Olary.

This is the cost effective way to travel.

Onwards to Cockburn, on the SA/NSW border. Note the Indian/Pacific rail line on the right.

                            Mmmm, an old water tower.

                            Cockburn!

This looks like an old railway building.

                              Cockburn Hotel is spelt Coburn.
