    It mightn't be long before a high % of cars are battery powered not that the main/cheap ingredient in sunscreen has been found to be able to reduce the recharge time whilst increasing the battery lifespan significantly and much cheaper to manufacture.
    I doubt that there would be much money in servicing them either.

      ...by then the electricity cost will rise, so you won't save anything by not paying for the petrol.

      Just like solar panels on the hoses caused that we pay more for electricity now then before.

        Solar panels on the roof are not the cause of your electricity price increases.

        Look to the price of coal & the price of gas. Look at the price of compliance, asset redundancy, system redundancy, carbon tax (now gone), upgrade of aging assets, forward planning of capital expenditure, wage costs, etc.

        Consumer demand has decreased because unit prices of power have increased. Saying that solar power has caused prices to rise is like saying that the easier availability of LED & fluorescent bulbs has caused electricity prices to rise.
