  • T4 front suspension noises

    Hi Guys,

Having owned a 2003 TDI300 Transporter and also an 02 Caravelle TDI, I know that in time the front suspension develops an horrendous creaking noise, best heard when going over speed bumps etc.

From memory, it comes from worn bushes or something like that.

My newly acquired 1 owner 2003 Trakka 2003 Campervan is amply exhibiting these symptoms. So I guess, my questions for you folks at this point are:

    1) Is this as horrendous as no doubt the dealer/European specialist mechanic is going to portray it?

    2) What is a reasonable cost to repair for parts & labour?

thanks heaps for any advice you can offer on this one!

Firstly, welcome to Trakka ownership. As a Trakka owner myself I would be interested in some pics, particularly of the inside layout.
I don't have any creaking noises from mine [yet] so I can't comment on the repair solution. However I can't remember reading about this on forums so I don't think it's a common problem. The usual first problem is worn ball joints. How many Kilometres on yours.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Ah, ta for that, yeah I think they are probably the best quality conversions done in Australia - and judging by the price of the new ones, they would certainly need to be!

I'm currently doing a bit of shooshing, might get some pics up when that's complete.

It was a one owner when I bought it 3 months ago, had about 155k on it, now early 160's.

With a bit of leg work I was able to obtain receipts from the two VW dealers who have done all the servicing. Nice to have that.

There you go, that stuck in my mind from my last T4 ownership a number of years back.

So, are we talking pricey to fix?

          cheers,
