I've got the VW branded ones that are OK, but not particularly heavy duty. Can still get the canoe on top, and get into many of the car parks.Golf V TDI 2005 - SOLD

The fit is excellent.
You have a choice of a "low" or "high" foot. The low foot just clears the roof. I went with the high foot. The feet are mounted on the factory hard points on the roof.
You can select the width of the roof bars. I chose just enough overhang to enable me to mount my awning under the bars but above the side door opening.
I use the Thule folding load stops - they pivot horizontal when not in use.
I also have a roller mounted on the rear most bar. This bar really needs to be at least 280mm closer to the tail. I have made up a 50mm spacer but I feel it still is not enough. When lifting ladders up onto the roof, you just clear the top edge of the tail gate before you slide onto the roller...
No wind noise with the racks or with the awning for that matter!

I have posted photos on the Brickyard forum.
My awning is a Howling Moon Alu Awn. Simple but gets the job done.
Brackets slot into the bottom T slots of the Thule bars and into two (of the three) T slots in the side of the awning housing.
I'm using the third T slot as an electrical conduit for my work lights.
