  • T4 auto slip/flare

    Hi guys,

Friend has a problem with his T4 5 cylinder petrol automatic. Its go around 250,000km and unknown history.

When the auto shifts slips engine revs. I have been told this is known as flaring.

    Any suggestions?

Vagcom scan and look for codes.

    ATF change and filter.
Valves broken (I dont even know what a automatic valve is)
    Is there an automatic computer.
Do these things have fuzzy logic?

Im not at all an expert here just trying to help.

    Cheers!

Sounds like it's rebuild time, I'm afraid.

You can try and give it a service with new correct oil, and filter strainer. It might come good again, but I don't think it'll last.

Hate to say rebuild before wasting time on oil, flaring yes, valve body problem and there fore also clutch problems. Classic 01P problem same as 01M, 09G, 09K etc etc. See them on a weekly basis
Have a fair bit of first hand knowledge on these, my trans specialist is next door to me and I see them all and I adapt them all when complete
