Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Can i replace the EXpensive 3 wire in my 96 T4 petrol with common universal one from autoOne? $100 .. everything i read says they all do same job. But I have been quoted bout $200 for 3 wire from volks mechanic here. (Sunshine Coast Qld) Is there anything special about this T4 type? Will my ECU crap itself with a common universal one or must I use the recommended balls breaker one?

I had thought about using a 4 wire and just not routing the extra earth. Much much much cheaper for some reason than the 3 wire.
$58 USD from autopartswarehouse.com whereas even they have 3 wire for $190 USD. Under Eurovan parts.

    any ideas?... smiles..

On a 96 T4 it doesnt have a wideband sensor and uses a standard one.I dont see a problem as long as its wired correctly.

All seems fine using the universal so far. Just going through tank of LPG currently but seems...... !? like already noticing improvement in the mileage. Bit more logging statistics tell the reality. Keep all informed as to results.
