Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • lsd in t4 ?

hey guys im sure i have a lsd in the front of my 2l man t4 '93 ive had it in the bush more than a few times and im always inpressed with how far i can get it. on the weekend i nearly bit of more than i could chew when i tried to power thru some small rocks and sand on a river bed when i started to feel it building up infront of the rear wheels and the front wheels sinking lol. when i stopped and got the passengers to push me backwards after removing the build up around the wheels, while reverseing out it once again was clearly obvious that it had a lsd as it left 2 nice tracks clearly all the way back out lol. even while turning .
im just wondering if they come standard or are they a open diff from the factory ?
you will know if you try to take of with one wheel on the dirt and one on the road, open diff will spin the wheel with the least traction and have all the power sent to that wheel due to the due to the power finding the easy way out. i can take off with one wheel in the dirt and one on the road and it will spin both wheels .
PS i dont have ABS so this is not a abs lsd.

    cheers brenton

Lift the front wheel up and turn one wheel if the oposit wheel is turning in the same direction than you have LSD.
