    Hi all
Don't know what happenned to my post this morning but will try again.
Have a look at ECB Volskwagen Transporter Bullbars Nudge Bars Frontal Protection Equipment These bars are ADR and Airbag compliant.
I ordered a nudge bar but have asked the dealer to hold off 'til I resolve what happens about the parking sensors.
One VW specialist I spoke to thinks that the warning I had from the dealer that it would cause a permanent alarm if I disconnected two of the front sensors may be true but only to the extent that when he plugs the diagnostic system into the car it tells him that there is a malfunction. It may not cause too much of a problem day to day.
Does anyone have any more on that please?
    cheers

Thanks Mikinoz, excuse my ignorance but can you enlighten me on what means VAGCOM please?
      Many thanks for your response.

VAGCOM is the interface between the ECU and a programming device, like a laptop.

Details on this are available from here. Ross-Tech: Home

Hi again, I just tried the "JustAnswer" option. Out of curiosity as much as anything I think.
I simply asked if the two centre detectors could be removed to facilitate a nudge bar.
          The response was:
"You cannot disable the two centre sensors.
I would fit a different type of system that uses radio wave rather than ultrasonics."

I am expected to pay $22 for that! I expect I can do a lot better than that on VWwatercooled! The bloke obviously has no idea of the implications.
          cheers

I use a Formula Offroad bull bar Type 51 - full bumper bar replacement unit. It is well made and fits well. I optioned two cutouts for Hella DRLs.

Has anyone had any recent luck fitting a bull bar to the new Multivan?
Have tried all that have been listed here except Qld Bullbars and they all say that they can do a Transporter but not a Multivan but a salesman in Brisbane assures me that a bullbar manufacturer in Brisbane makes a bumper replacement bar that still allows the use of the sensors(refitted in the bar)and he would email through pictures (probably three weeks ago now).

Just going to bump this up to see if anyone knows anything new about Bullbars for Multivans. Has anyone fitted one?
The only one I can see is from QLD Bullbars.

I have a T5 Multivan (2006) and because I live in a regional town, people seem to be unable to park on the street without any regard for other road users, so many times now I have found another car almost butted up to my car, making it almost impossible to get out.
My main worry is some yokel reversing into my front bumper.
I have a modified ARB nudge bar awaiting fitting for some time now and am considering fitting it, with mounting modification and modified fwd parking sensor mounting.
looking at the mounting looks to be an issue, the main area to mount the bar is from under the van from the engine/gearbox subframe, it has a few holes under it (drain holes i can gather). The fabricator in me says to drill those holes right through the subframe and mount the nudgebar from underneath from purpose made mounts, the engineer in me says this could cause a weak point in the structure.
other wise the other way would be to drill across the frame and make a mount adapter to mount from the side of the subframe.

I think the majority of transporter mountings seem to be from the frame rails at the front from what I can interpret in the pictures online.

Hi Ades, I have also done a fair bit of research on the internet for Multivan nudge bar options, I recall as you say, some bars going all the way underneath the front bumper to mount underneath the van somewhere, no sure where, some only mount via plates through the front, I reckon mounting from underneath and also two plates through to the front plate is probably the sturdiest option.

                                Hey kombi,

thanks for the feedback, yes i forgot to mention about the mounts from the front of the frame rails. noting the weight of the nudge bar I think mid support would be called for and reduce the stress on the subframe mount.
