T4 Clutch pedal strengthener

Hi All and wishes for a Happy New Year.
Just fitted this neat little bracket to stop "flexing" of the assembly when actuating the pedal causing the steel plunger shaft to rub on one side of its housing and causing a loud "click" on mine; like a signal of near impending doom for the unit.
It thoughtfully was designed to clear the dags of an obvious attempt to weld the bracket where it may have cracked with an earlier owner.All good now
Got it from a Neil Jones at boatyardbuses.com in the land of UK for about 20 bucks including postage.

Good to hear mate, I have one in the mail from eBay/T4Forum can't wait to replace mine too. How long did it take you to fit it?

They claim 10 minutes. Took me over an hour trying to figure it out. Don't need to remove the engine pan to get to the bolt.
Find the bolt; in the engine bay under the bonnet; 3rd along row fastening the brake booster drum (big black thing) and screw it out. Hard to reach;couldn't see it; finally got it with a ratchet and loss of a bit of skin on my wrist. This bolt lines up with a hole in the insulation showing a welded nut , just under the pedal inside the cab. I put white out on the suspected bolt to see if I was undoing the right one.
Substitute longer bolt that came with the kit and reaches far enough to be able to fasten bracket using a supplied nyloc nut.
Unscrew 2 existing bolts on unit. Fit the bracket against the original fitting , refit the original bolts and tighten .
Make sure that the rod is positioned in the centre of the assembly before tightening. Theres quite a bit of play for adjusting.
Apparently if it starts to rub at the sides of the assembly by not staying centred it will shorten the units life.
Have fun- think its taken a bit of shudder out when the clutch bites when moving off as well as the annoying "clicK"

Can I encourage you to takes some pics next time you do something interesting on your van. Because of its age & pricing, the T4 is now in the area of more DIY. This helps all of us to learn & more owners will give it a go if they can see what needs to be done. These posts will be a welcome relief from the complaints about costs & poor workmanship.
