Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

A long time since I had to replace one of mine. From memory you will need to move the grill/front panel[3 phillips head screws in the top & two at the bottom] The panel unclips from either end. There are four screws holding the headlight in. DO NOT touch the adjusting screws unless you have to as the plastic nuts by now will be very brittle & fall to pieces.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Depending if you have a 'short nose' T4 or not and which MY jets instructions may vary a bit, but otherwise he is spot on.

Those adjusters are a real pain I found buying 2nd hand headlight frames from the UK with all the adjusters in place was cheaper then buying new/used ones in OZ (in case you break them.

Best way to get the front metal bar out is a flat metal camping peg or a fancy coat hanger from the wife

Be careful not to chip any paint from the panel, best to wrap the coat hanger or whatever with some tape.
