Location of diesel particulate filter on t5

The DPF light on my 2007 T5 Four Motion Transporter came on 6000 kilometers into a 17000 kilometer trip. The shortest trips I'd done prior to this was 450 kilometers a day on average. I don't believe the filter is blocked due to short trips but more likely a faulty sensor. The fuel economy and performance of the engine has not been affected.

Could anyone please tell me where the DPF is located on the exhaust system. The engine is a 2.5 litre diesel.

Has anyone heard of a DPF eliminator or race pipe I think they're called, and if they're available where I can purchase one from.

It's straight after the turbo. Looks like a silencer.

The pressure sensors fail pretty often and the replacement needs to be calibrated/zero set to your ECU.

Taking the DPF out is against the law. Not trying to encourage law breaking but if you look at the UK forums there will be plenty on DPF deleting there for you to read about.

What mileage on the Transporter now?

Thank you Gavin, 52000 klms on it now. The light came on around 40000. Would you know of anyone in Brisbane other than the dealers who can replace the sensor and calibrate it. Westy.

Be best to check it first with VCDS, no point in replacing stuff without cause. 52000 isnt far TBH, it shouldn't be a full DPF really.

You can get the sensor off VW less than $100 if it's the same as the one on the MK5, I have a vcds lead coming home tomorrow and might have time to do it for you. Otherwise try the VW/Audi independents around town.

You should've had it diagnosed and repaired as soon as it happened.

I've seen a few cars needing new DPFs after the customers had left it til the next service to have the pressure sensor replaced.

Lets hope yours is ok.

Or the DPF internals can collapse as happened with mine...
