  • Meanwhile - 5,000km later....

Well we are back. Classic Adelaide was a bit of a let-down with the clutch on the M3 dying on day 2 . But the T5 was brilliant!!!

So after the long drive down, Kelly spent the week chasing round the Adelaide hills with fuel and munchies for Keith, the M3 and me. Towing was (mostly) a dream (NSW - from Glbrne to Syd sucks!) and I think we used half a litre of oil all up. Fuel consumption was approx 13.5 per 100km - wow!
Totally delighted with the package - the fly-by-wire cruise control is brilliant, the brakes are great, and when we stopped at Hay for a driver change, we realised just how good the air-con was.

    Love it!!

    Charles.

Good to hear you like your T5. I agree that the cruise control is great and that T5s are fantastic highway cruisers. Yours is run-in now, so you can enjoy the full performance

Great vehicle! Now for the flash, rims, Panasonic (DVD, GPS, bluetooth combo) and maybe front seats (I kinda like these but dont know pricing yet......)

        UPDATE
A visit to the ARB shop has spoiled my plans... seems they don't have a T5 base. They could sell me the seat, but I would need to devise a mount and get it engineered

Just curious on why you want to change seats, looks or comfort ? Most people are pretty impressed with the standard T5 front bucket seats. I have a set of Stratos Eagle sports from my 4WD that I could put in, but decided the standard ones were more than fine.

We found that running through the Snowies, the lack of lateral support meant the the passenger in particular, was rocking around more than was comfortable. Our seat lack arm rests - which I think would have been nice on the Adelaide trip (12 hours straight), and while comfortable, the standard seats just lack the extra support that makes for niggly back/shoulder aches.

Our T4 had armrests fitted by TRAKKA, $990 for both front seats, but a few years ago. I'd be surprised if they could do them for a T5.

$990 for the front seat arm rests?
Thats about £400 i think( if im doing it correctly).
                WOW....
You could get two captains seats in the UK for that sort of money.

I have TT seats in my T4 and i belive they can be fitted in a T5
No arm rests but latera control is the best.

Ill have a look on the uk web sites for an answer for you!

My T5 has the leather seats (Multivan), which are fitted with the arm rests. They DO make a big difference on a long drive (and even on relatively short drives).

Good to see you liked the T5. I told you it was great for towing and country driving in general.

I was getting around 13 to 13.5l/100km towing my caravan as well. It is fantastic consumption, especially when you consider the effortless power available for towing.

I have the Multivan Comfortline and I find the front seats and any of the other seats perfect, with no aches or pains at all. The most I have done is about 1000km in a day with a full compliment of passengers (seven of us altogether) and everyone was happy with the comfort. I certainly wouldn't consider getting different seats. I always use the arm rests, though.

I have removed the drivers seat due to back pain after long journeys 500km plus. Installed a Recaro racing seat with air adjust lumber support, custom frame to mount to original rails, no more problems now

If you would consider s'hand seats I have a pair of Stratos Eagle Sports seats surplus to my requirements (very similar to the current 3000 LS model at http://www.stratos.com.au/products/car/ ). They have inside armrests (but not outer). I'm listed in the Canberra white pages as Collins, Gregory D if you're interested.
