  • Multivan retro fit electric doors

    Hi all,

Thinking about buying the multivan ltd edition but would like the electric doors.
Dealer says I cant get them for this model even if retro fit is this right?
Also note that these aren't selling that great. Has anyone purchased one for a good price or know any dealers looking to sell?
Happy to travel anywhere to pick one up. The dealers in Sydney are not very interested even taking one for a drive is a hassle.

    Cheers

If their sales are anything like the Beach, you will get major discounts after they have sat in a yard for over a year.

My Beach was a year old and brand new with not even 400 demo km on it. Discount was significant and my GTI was traded at higher than the highest online market used price!

I recall the last Beach sold after 3 years with almost 20K off the original sticker price...

So yes, you should be able to get a Ltd Edition at a good price.

I cannot help with retro fit of electric doors. I imagine it would be a PITA to retro fit.

What sort of money was that then?

Like Multiplexman said it would be lots of work/cost and a load of hassle to fit the power doors.

Can you justify fitting them? Why would you want them its just something else to go wrong.

Try and find the exploded drawings of the two different vans to find out the parts needed.

Has anyone got the websites for the drawings? I will have a look for them.

I saw a thread here about the cost to repair one broken power door and it scared me. I am happy with the doors as they are - power latching? I think its called.

You should be able to pick up a brand new edition for $60k on the road. There is one on carsales for $62k now.

For the cost and effort to install a function is only marginally reliable at best, I don't think it's worth it.

            Extras worth it?

Thanks. Will not go for the doors. Thanks Luke for info.

What do you think are options I should go for?
Sat nav or can you get OEM that is just as good?
Blue tooth kit? or again OEM is just as good?
rear dvd for kids? Or can you stream from a OEM unit.
            Sorry for all the questions

            Cheers

I paid $1200 for the sat nav and bluetooth off ebay delivered - as a dealer accessory you are looking at big dollars, maybe $3,000.

It's around $4000 for the RNS510 kit alone, plus labour.

Was that from one seller? Can you give a seller ID? Ta!
