Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • MY11 duelcab noise.

Hey peeps, I am wondering if any DuelCab owners here have experianced noise comming from the rear of the cab, I am suspecting it is from the rear doors. My T5 has just hit 12 months old and allmost 30000 km.
The noise started on the left side when driving up and down my driveway then would be minimal after that, now it has moved to the right side and was doing the same, but now the noise is becomming constant on slightly bumpy roads and I can not ignore it. I am suspecting the recent heavy rain we have had in Sydney has had something to do with it, as I never had the noises before, I have tried to find the cause but am yet to find out were its comming from, its only noticeable when driving. I have shaken things open and closed the doors a million times, jumped up and down on the suspension and can not hear it. To me it really sounds like its the rear doors. Has anyone had this before?. My T5 is booked in for a service next week should I bring it up as a warranty complaint?
    Thanks in advance.

Is it a creaking noise? If so lube your rubber door seals.

I found out about this on a Skoda forum and it fixed my Scout and Multivan. I use "Gummi Pledge".

Yep...it'll be seal creak. The T4's did it too. The seals stick to the metal cab - especially in the corners. I just used silicon spray on the metal until the seals softened up after a year or two.

Another thing worth checking is the handbrake actuation line. I'm not sure if the T5 is different but in the T4 the handbrake cable is spring loaded off the chassis just behind the cab. This was the first part to fail on the DOKA - took less than six months. The spring just disappeared. Without the tension on it...it rattles rather noticably!

Hello all Dual cab owners - The earlier models never got any sound proofing in the back (don't know about newer models) - roof or doors, so did mine at home, can notice the difference now.

Hi, what did you use to sound proof your rear, and was it easy to do? Thanks in advance.

Never got round to that. Easy to do with Dynamat or similar product. Might just put up with it until restoration time comes around in another hundred thousand kays...

I finally got rid of the noise, after many trial and error I found the source comming from the outside door handles, uhe weather and frequant washing had dried out these areas, as a last ditch effort before I went insane, I sprayed a little lithium greas in there and the sounds went away. When they dry outagain i am going to try some graphite powder.
