Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Rear side tie down rail

    Hi Guys,

These arrived in the post last week. They are made by Sortimo. It allows you to strap things to the side of the rear cargo area.
I bought 2 sets from a guy in Germany. Each set consists of 2 side rails, and 4 retaining straps.
Landed cost with postage, was 110 Euro each set.

I don't wish to rain on the parade but there's also Transport, Bike Gear, Bike - Torpedo7 or Fixings and Anchor Points | OneUp Motorcycle Products or Ovesco - Hardware,Gas Stays,Drawer Slides,Rubber & Seal Strip,Water Tanks & Tool Boxes,Huck Fasteners & Tooling,Recoil,Threaded Inserts My personal preference is the last one - the OCCO track and ties downs

That looks more expensive than Sortimo, which comes with tie downs, but it's good to have more options when you need to attach something in the van.

          Keep the ideas coming.

No rain on my parade.....I have seen those, and they are a lighter duty than the Sortimo gear.

I like Sortimo gear - very well built and thought out. I'd be interested in a set myself.

I looked at bringing in some of their camping modules a couple years back, but freight was

Anyone in Sydney/Newcastle/ACT interested in these?

I'm ordering a couple sets along with a mate (for his Caddy). We can split the shipping and save some $.

I like it. I am looking for something similar to tie down my 2 jerry cans.
