    G'day all,

    Yesterday I experienced a flashing Glowplug Dash light after a bit of a squirt up a hill through the gears and then the Engine Exhaust gas light was also triggered (solid not flashing).

    After reading numerous posts indicating that the brake light switch or bolbs can trigger this, or exhaust pressure sensor, I quickly checked to find that the brake light switch was not the cause on this occasion.

    Took it to the dealer this morning and it was quickly diagnosed as an intermittant under boost of the Turbo- intermittant sticky turbo vanes.

    Moral of the story, ocasional Italian tune up to free up the turbo vanes!

    Hi all,

    I am still experiencing issues with the vehicle going in to limp mode under full engine load (effectively full boost). So it is off to the dealer to get this investigated further. No obvious sign of boost leaks and the VNT actuator appears to moving freely. The engine gets a good work out periodically. Any thoughts? For example exhaust pressure sensor or something?

      Underboost codes can sometimes rfer to the turbo not actually reaching target boost pressure. I have seen one where there was excessive freeplay in the rod linkage to the varible vanes, causing fluctating boost pressures. This was enough to constantly log underboost codes when the vehicle was under full load. Unfortunately, only a replacement turbo assembly could fix it.

        Thanks for the comments. I hope it doesn't result in a replacement turbo assembly!!! The rod linkage doesn't appear to have any freeplay and moves freely as it should. The Multivan has only 55,000Ks on the clock.

          There is an issue, not commonly noted, with wiring harnesses running from boost pressure sensors.
          Had this on one of my 125kw tdi vehicles.
          Pretty much had to tell the dealer to change the loom and if it wasnt the fault i would pay. It was
          See if you can get a print out of the freeze frame fault and see if its showing incorrect ambient pressure which will indicate faulty sensor or wiring harness.

              Hi all,

              The Multivan has been fully investigated checking the boost sensors. In the end it was the DPF that has separated internally causing a slight exhaust restriction - enough to trigger limp home mode at maximum power/load and higher revs. As my van has only done 55,000Ks (4 years old almost), Burwin VW to their credit consulted VW AUS straight away for a goodwill gesture to cover the cost of a new DPF, and they did. I cover a couple of hours labour. So this was a good result and I don't mind saying full marks to Burwin for being very straight forward regarding this matter. They recall seeing another one at about 200,000Ks but not at this low kms! Interestingly DPF regeneration was normal.

              I also had a front door level problem whereby I could not open the drivers door from the inside. I knew it wasn't a broken lever as I could hear the cable moving at the lock end. Burwin removed the door card and it appears to have unhooked for some reason. Re hooked and all fixed! Thought this might be useful information for the Forum.

              Up for some new tyres soon and after much research I am going to get the Toyo H08 because they have correct load rating go 106T, and probably for under $200 per tyre. The original Dunlop tyres have been excellent but not available in Australia.
