Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Multivan v6 hello fellow dubbers

    Hi Fellow Dubbers,
I have a multivan v6 06 already had the origanal 73 Bay window .Wow they have improved the drive a bit my wife will at least drive the new one . I love vw's and the multivan is amazing .

However a few questions I have recently had a crash in it after having it for only two days and blacked out ran through a couple of fences and into a tree and yes still alive Praise God, Had work done to the value of $35,000 on insurance alot of things replaced new . The issues i have still are that the side doors are still rattleing a bit have tried fixing the problem with the repairers but to no avail I uess i would just like to Know if wether the noise is just because of the neww rubbers or if its another problem ,has anyone else had this similar noise in ther doors?

    Thanks

Check the rollers at the top and bottom rail and wait for others to respond. I''m sure that we had a post with the roller wornout/broken here before.

And welcome to the forum! I hope that you and your van is in a good shape again.

Sorry guys, I moved your discussion to another section, since it doesn't have to be related to the OP's problem.

This is where you can have your say on anything that doesn't fit in the other sections. Remember we are a public forum and the same rules of propriety hold! No bad language, incitement of hatred or antisocial posts, please. They will be edited or deleted mercilessly!

and I agree, there are other reasons why they change the design of the fasteners in the automotive industry. One of them could be to keep the tool companies in the busines and also to keep the tinkerers out.

The triple sq. or XZN bits are not very expensive and everyone who likes to tinker with their's vehicle should have a set or several sets.

I have a slight rattle in the sliding door.
There are two plastic locating cones on the door pillar and corresponding lugs on the door. One of the locating cones is broken, which i think is contributing to the rattle.Cannot be bought as a separate part apparently, you need need to buy the whole door, almost.

Hey rebuild you are right I just took off the top cone and the noise is gone however I don't think this a good long term option . How much is the replacement part you where talking about.
          Thanks mate

around $60 IIRC, have to buy the whole mounting bracket

I did actually get rid of the rattle by rotating the broken cone 180degrees, so that the locator rides on a fresh piece.
I needed to remove the mounting plate to rotate it, as the cone is locked in one position.
