Just wondering has anyone had any exhaust modification carried out on a 2.5 TDI and what was it, as I am thinking of doing some, thanks.

I have not done it yet but soon plan to have the manifold cracking welded, the cat removed and most likely the rear muffler cut out as well. Time is not on my side but.

You will have to excuse my ignorance but what is manifold cracking, is it a cracked manifold is this a common occurrence with the T5 is it more cost ?

Indeed, about $1200 to get the manifold replaced. The welding could be temporary solution. Here is the thread about it http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post696569

How does one know when the manifold is cracked, apart from getting visual confirmation ?

And in particular when reversing (don't ask my why, but that's when I noticed it the most) and black soot around the airbox on left hand side looking into engine bay
