Engine Tapping Noise -Cold start ...?

[TWIN TURBO DSG]

Hi Guys,
I have a 2010 132 kw Transporter DSG 8,000kms total.

Upon Starting when cold eg " overnight" a very loud tapping noise"- similar to noisy lash adjuster- until engine has warmed up.
Hard to tell what exact temp as vehicle does not have temp guage dial.
Engine Oil has been changed at 5,000kms and made no difference.
Can hear same noisy Briefly, although not as loud as when cold, 5-20 seconds once vehicle has sat for more than 20 min when restarted.

Has anyone experienced this problem, with this engine?

Amarok has the same engine....

I get the same thing. 132kw 9000km. noise goes away when the big turbo spools up, always very noisy when under 2000-2500 rpm. not done oil change yet. have a trip the cairns soon towing bikes. should prob get it looked at.

Hey T5 Pete,
My Ute been to VW Twice now - No fault Found-
This sound is normal , The Service Manager Said his Amarok was Just as noisy.
I am personally, still not convinced
Time will tell.....
