With respect to the Vito TDi V6......is it a Euro 5 compliant engine? Or for that matter, Euro 6? If not then it has death hanging over it.
    It's only just been updated/released.
    Edit: Euro 5.

Being a Multivan lover it pains me to say it, but the recently updated Mercedes Viano (on paper at least) looks like the far better package at the moment. 3.0 td, 165kw/440Nm, 0-100 in 9.1 seconds, standard bi-xenon headlights (not even an option on T5 GP), standard front and rear sunroofs, electric rear vent windows, self-levelling rear air suspension, presumably better stereo (8 "high quality" speakers with "subwoofer"), optional rear seat entertainment system, choice of 6,7 or 8 seat configuration. It certainly looks like a formidable package and I look forward to test driving one. VW may now need to lift their game equipment-wise, performance-wise and possibly ride comfort-wise. Has anyone test driven one?

Nope - my stock 96kW T5 (2.5TDI auto) Beach has more than enough get and go whilst returning sub 10L/100km consumption. I did not bother chasing the higher output T5 variants. If I want more, I'd drive my coupe or get a GTI.

I would rather opt for improved reliability/endurance over more power in a van - but that's just me!

My only power plant/train "upgrades" - ProVent & intercooler.

I test drove both VW TDi103 and the new (facelifted) Vito Wagon 8 seater 113CDI.
TDi103 feels a lot faster (due to DSG, my guess), corners much flatter, has more connected steering feel.
The Vito rides smoother, less engine vibration, much lower road noise levels, but is harder to drive due to more lean in corners and really vague steering. Vito/Viano have no 2nd/3rd curtain airbags even as option.

At the moment, the TDi103 would be my choice, but the feeling is that the expected 2.0Tsi petrol version would be the best choice as the TDi103 is a bit too loud/vibrating.
