After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • 215/65 R16 C 106/104/T Tyres for Multivan

    Hi all,

Given the various tyre thread discussions over time, I have tried to pull together an updated list for the 16 inch 106/104T load rated tyres. I too will need new tyres within the next 6 months.

My 2008 Muiltivan has OEM Dunlop SPLT 30-6 215/65 R16C 106/104T tyres. These appear to be not available in Australia or a Dunlop equivalent.

This is what I have found today as possible options:

    Toyo H08 - 215/65R16 106/104T
Good Year P215/65R16C 106/104T CARGO G26 HIGHWAY tyres
    Bridgestone R410 215/65R16C. 106/104T
    Bridgestone D693 is AT tyre
    Continental Vanco 6 215/65R16C 106/104T
Federal Tyres Australia - 215/65/16 ECOVAN ER01 for around $150 each
    Yokohama RY818 215/65R16 106/104T
Hankook Dynapro HP; couldn’t find an exact match only mentions 215/65R16 T XL?
MICHELIN Agilis couldn’t find an exact match only in a 215/65R16C 109 T?
    Pirelli Chrono 215/65R16C 109R

    Regards,

    Scott

Thanks Tornado, I didn't specifically include the Pirelli's because they seemed a 'heavy duty' at 109T load rating.
          Cheers, Scott

Thanks VW Bug. Similarly with the Federals, I thought these also might be a heavy duty (109) compared to the OEM 106/104T load rating.

I thinking my next set will be the Toyo H08 - 215/65R16 106/104T.

No Probs. I actually replaced my OEM Agilis51's with them and to be honest I can't pick the difference.

I use the Goodyear Cargos. Awesome, grippy and not noisy and Commercial rated.

I had them on my previous Van (T4 Caravelle). Yes very good tyres and they certainly wear well.

                    Hi All,

A lot of good research on here. I'm due for new tyres soon (75K on the original Michelin Agilis), but would like to go to an AT type tread pattern. So far I haven't been able to find a single one in this size that is load rated. Nearest has been Michelin LTX, but the nearest size is 225/75 which is about 55mm larger, and I don't think it would fit in the spare wheel space, as well as possibly having clearance issues, and raising the gearing a bit more than I want. Does any-one have AT pattern tyres fitted (with proper load rating), and what size will go on without these issues?

                    thanks

Continental Vanco 6 and 8 models in this size are no longer available (I think) only Vanco 2 in a 109 load rating.

The Bridgestone D693 is available in this size and rated as an AT pattern D693

Thanks Transporter & Seano. I tried to reply to this earlier, but it seems to have vanished into the ether. Have checked on the Bridgestones, and they look promising, but so far they have been hard to find. Best is Jax Quickfit, who reckon they can get 2 (of course I need 5, or maybe four if I keep the original Michi spare as it is the same diameter). Otherwise, said to be out of stock. Have a couple of places still looking for me. They are still the only ones I have found in this size which are load rated. Another possibility is the Bridgestone 694 at 225/70 16 (about 5% larger, which I think would be OK), but they are only 102 rated. This the legal minimum by the sticker, but less than what I have (104/106 for the Michi's. The 693's are 106). Are they likely to be more flexible/squishy with the lower rating and taller profile?

The alloys look tempting. I passed on alloys originally as I had already stretched my budget, but mainly because the ones on offer at Trakka (can't remember the name) looked very vulnerable to kerb rash. The spokes seemed to stand out beyond the rim a bit. These Tangis look better. Does any-one have them on, and how vulnerable are they? My original steels are looking a bit battered (stone chips rusting) after my Cape Yorke trip, especially the spare, which has lots of gravel rash from being under the back. (ps. Does any-one know if it can be mounted up the other way. ie inner wheel facing down?).
