Tyres for 1.9 T5

My Van Runs 16" with 215/65/R16, I am looking at some BMW X5 wheels & tyres, they are 18" with 255/55/R18 109H.
Apart from giving me an incorrect speedo reading will the size change the performance or have any other effect on my van?

My quess is 255 width tyres would be ok to fit as this is the width of tyre that comes on the current VW T5.1 optional 18" wheels. My experience with upgrading like that is that the car might feel slower (due to extra friction of wider tyres with stickier compound) and also feel too planted, less chuckable, less fun to drive.

It is hard to find a premium van tyre, the nearest I got to it, was to replace original 215/65/R16 commercial tyres with "Continental VancoContact 2" (not "Vanco 2") in 215/60/R16. I am very happy with them, much smoother ride.
