  • 18" Wheels for a Multivan

    Hi all,

I am looking to update the wheels on my 103kW Comforline to 18 X 8's and would like to keep it factory looking. I have read about the Dakar rims, that look great, does anyone know where I could source a set of these?

I also came across these on the Bay, anyone know about APEC wheels? I would be looking to use Pirellis or Continentals in the load rating was sufficient
18 inch APEC R32 WHEELS AND TYRES VW GOLF LIMITED STOCK - eBay Wheel, Tyre Packages, Wheels, Tyres, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 15-Jul-10 20:31:18 AEST)

They do mention in the listing the PCD is 5X112, but from what I can read mine is 5 X 120. On calling them they assure me they will fit.

    Thanks in advance

They are 5x112 and your van requires 5x120 so they won't be able to fit and there doesn't look like there will be room to modify them.

Best bet is ebay (search 5/120) or tirerack etc.

Just so you know, most BMW fitments are 5x120 so you have a whle range of BMW style wheels that should fit the van.

see here for an example: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f136...ngs-31159.html

Thanks for that, I did see BLog's posts, and thats the direction I am heading in terms of look!

Will keep an eye out on E Bay, already have a saved search on "VW Dakar"
      Cheers

I know that Range Rover wheels fit and believe Holden wheels should fit.

Hope you find some nice wheels to fit.

I contacted them about some wheels for my T4, they didnt have a clue, I also asked what was the offset and all they sent back was, "wont fit"??

          Steer clear of them.

Thanks Dave, yeah I think they are more about quantity rather than quality.

Yeah the Black Dakars look great...This is the sort of thing I am looking for, I whipped these up in Photoshop, the tint is real but the rims and the lowered suspension is what we call an artists impression. I dont know the BMW rims have the right offset but i will find out I guess!

Looks nice Robear. Is that the Natural Grey? Looks very nice. We ordered our Multivan in Natural Grey from the colour card and some pics from the brochure.

Yeah this is the Natural Grey. I initially wanted a black one, but the wait was too long....and having had a black car before, they are impossible to keep clean, so I am very happy with this colour. This pic is with the original wheels which it still has now.

                      BMW wheels fit fine!
Just watch the width on the rear due to the sliding door rubbing between inside plastic panel and tyre side wall.
                      Like the picture looking smart.
What lowering kit have you been looking at?

Ohh that looks so nice. Love how the colour changes depending on how the light hits it. I'm so glad we ordered this colour and didn't give in and get the Reflex Silver that was available but didn't have any of the options I wanted.
I like the lowered look, I'll be lowing mine 30mm when I get it. What springs do people use?

I havent even got to springs yet, I'm still trying to source some good wheels and tyres, but dont want to rush into the wrong thing.

This link is a good source of info for lowered springs and wheels, check it out. I will stay tuned if anyone else has some good inof on suspension and springs.

Here is one old thread about the aftermarket wheels. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f136...els-22970.html
I didn't re-read it, so please ignore me if it is not about 18" wheels.

I have a KW coil over kit stuck in customs as I type that I ordered in early May from the UK, it appears that KW now only build the kit once an order is placed, hopefully I have it by the end of the week & fit it on the weekend.
