  • Where should I get my T5 serviced?

    Hi there,

I purchased my T5 brand new from Bayford preston (now in epping).

It's about a couple months away from hitting 30,000km's so I'll need to take it in to get it serviced. However, the last time I called Bayford preston, their service department don't open on Saturdays. Not sure if they service on Saturdays at their new Epping showroom though.

Nevertheless, There are a few minor problems that need attention; air bag light has come on the dash and the horn doesn't work.

I'm wanting to know if there are any benefits getting the van serviced at bayford, or at another VW centre that is close by. (I live a good 50km's away from epping)

If I were to get it serviced at Burwins, would they fix the minor problems on my T5? Or would I need to get those problems fixed at Bayford?

    Thanks

These items are under warranty so any VW dealer should be able to service those. I bought my T4 new from Chatswood in Sydney as they had one on the floor in the colour and transmission that I wanted. We are in Newcastle so there was no way it was going to be taken back to them - whenever there were warranty issues, it was fixed in Newcastle at the dealer here, but all of my other services (every 5,000kms) were done at my local VW mechanic that I had been using for over 10 years.

Burwin's do service on Saturday however I vaguely remember it was only rountine servicing and not repairs. Best ring and ask.

        Hi icrunk,

Of course we'd love to see your T5 come back for service, however while we have a view to doing some service work on Saturdays it hasn't started as yet. There is nothing to say that you must service your van with us for the VW warranty so if it is more convenient then of course you can go to Burwin.

It is worth mentioning that for the additional 12 month dealer warranty you recieved (Bayford Protection Plan on the sale agreement) to be valid you do need to do your services with a Bayford service centre. If it's easier you can get work done at Doncaster and Camberwell (Camberwell has service available on Saturdays but I'm pretty sure that books out in advance, well worth the call).
Also, if you bought an extended warranty it is worth having a look at the schedule to check if there are any requirements for service for it to be valid.

If you do end up heading out this way, make sure you hunt me down and get me to make you a coffee!

        Hope that helps, Cheers!!

With the additional 12month bayford warranty, is there a km's limitation? Can't seem to find anything about the additional warranty on my sale contract.

Although the Camberwell centre isn't too far away either!

The 12 month warranty would show on your sale contract as "Bayford Protection Plan"

You would have been given a little booklet when you picked up the car that has the product explanation in it. After your VW warranty expires at 3yrs or 100,000km, the warranty kicks in for 12 months or 20,000 additional kilometers, whichever comes first.

            Cheers!
