Transporter, on your T5 FAQ & how to thread you say not to park with transmission in gear. Care to expand on this. Does this apply to the T4 & Golf also?
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Any vehicle with DMF, since it puts the load on internal spring inside DMF. If you have A/T or DSG you most likely also have DMF on diesel vehicles and you should always do this when you go to park:

In exact order! applies to petrol cars as well
      1. with the engine still running shift to "N"
      2. Pull the handbrake up
      3. foot off the brake pedal
      4. Switch the engine "OFF"
      5. Shift gear selector to "P"
      6. Done! Remove the key from ignition
      Make habit of it!

By doing this you will not put excessive strain on your A/T, DSG or DMF.
If you were doing it wrong you may noticed now that your gear selector goes from "P" to "D" much smoother, especially if you parked down hill.
