  • What luck will I have

We are setting up a new business on the Eyre Pen of South Oz hopefully within 6 months.
    I need/want a T4/T5 and I would like the following
sliding doors BOTH sides with windows
    LWB
Twin hinged rear doors not a lift up
Auto or semi auto But is this wise they seem to be trouble makers.
    White in color
windows in rear of sides not a neccesity
Prefer diesel but give me your thoughts. My mind can be swayed.
What type of price could I be looking at and what should I be wary of.

Iam sure if one interstate came up some noice fella here would give it the once over.

We will also be getting a second hand Passat wagon.

Last VW I drove was a early bug back in '70s

Look at the government auctions. There are from time to time some ex ambulance T5's.

I would stay away from the automatic and also consider the 1.9TDI they could be better in the long run.

To give you some indication, I recently had mine in for an eval prior to the purchase of the new model, and whilst it was not put in writing there was the suggestion of $20+K trade price. Mine is a 2005 Multivan, only done 55,000 Kms, 4 Motion, Diesel 128KW, Highline, leather, powered doors both sides. I assume that if you are setting up a business you would be after a transporter, so I would expect that if someone was trading one in the pricing would be less as a trade. But this doesn't provide any indication of what a dealer would sell you one for.
At the time I didn't try any bargaining, as they could not provide a price on the new model, so it was a bit pointless.

Bit low on trade in price, I would be a bit disappointed with that.

          Hi mate,
Sell it privately if you can. I would hope to get $30,000+ for it. Can't imagine what they would offer for mine? Maybe $10-15K

Yes - totally agree with all comments. I wouldn't accept that as a trade. That's one reason why I didn't push the issue at the time.

To come back on thread thanks for that coastie, looks like ez ambo may be the way.

Are the front seat comfortable (I'll be doing regular 300kilometer trips one way) I like a seat to fit me not sitting on peises of wood.
Should I look a Rearo or similar.
Do the ambo transporters have a basic dash and the maxi have all the bells and whistles?

Well you did ask for comments on pricing ...

The seats in our Multivan are leather, armchair style, and I have done 1000 km's in a day quite comfortably.
If you are doing long drives I think the diesel is a must. The petrol versions are quite inefficient, but on longer trips in my diesel I would regularly get 8.8 l/100Kms. I think you would be lucky to see 12+l/100Kms for the petrol versions. The 128Kw TDI also has plenty of grunt, even at highway cruising speeds.
