  • Multivan Tyres

I need to get some new tyres for my T5 Multivan.
Has anyone else had trouble getting the right size etc?
    Any recommendations on brands?
A few places I have called don't even want to help with anything that size.

Also am I correct that "235/55/17/103w are required?

    Thanks in advance.

    17" Tyres

    Hi b_star.

I'm running 16" so cannot give first hand experience.

As to tyre size - should be on the tyre placard on the driver's door sill.

235/55-17 is right from my records.
103 load rating is spot on too.

    Cheers, MM

PS I have set of 17" "spare wheels" at home. I'll check tyre brands when I'm on R&R - tomorrow

      I suggest Hankook DynaPro RA23 235/55/17
I've done 35,000km on them and will get another 20,000km easy, good handling and very quiet. Other people in this forum use them and are happy too. Cost is in low $200. I got mine from Bob Jane and will buy them again.
More about wheels, tyres and others in this thread.

The 16" tyres usually last much longer. What tyre pressure are you? How is the wheel alignment?
If you search this section of the forum there are more than couple of the threads about tyres. By memory, I think that someone mentioned - the Michelin in 16" lasted him well over 50,000km.

I am running at 40 PSI and more than this the ride is rough and bumpy.

I have not had a wheel alignment done as the car only has 15,000 KMS

When i replace rubber I will get this done.

What am I doing wrong, the T5 just clicked over 75,000km today and I have a few thousand more to go at least. Original Michelin Agilis 51 215/65/16...oops..better book that 75K service
Edit: that's included gravel driving & heavy loads with towing as well.

I think my tyre placard states more than 40psi for fronts and slightly less for rears so your pressures seems OK.

The 15,000km tyre life, on the new van is not spot on! I would take it to the dealer and tell them that the tyres should last longer. Let them check the wheel alignment and politely ask for new tyres or at least contribution to the cost of the new tyres.

I have the Hankook Dynapro's as well. These replaced the Michelin the T5 came with as standard. Dynapro's are much quieter. I would buy these again.

As other's have said, that's pretty low mileage for a pair of tyres (unless you like to spin the wheels on take-off a lot and/or fang around roundabouts with a load on board).

I've done 50,000Km on the original Michelins on my T5, and they look like they could do twice that. I do drive gently and I rotate the wheels around the van (including the spare).

My local Tyre shop has offered me Federal Ecovan tyres.

Has anyone had any experience with these tyres ??

They are only $150 a corner.

The tyre looks good and has very deep tread depth.

I had to get a new tyre for my V6 Multivan 235/55x17 as I had an unrepairable puncture. When i bought the vehicle I took out the Beaurepairs tyre insurance. One of my other tyres also had a dubious repair so i replaced it also.

I got 1 tyre on the insurance and the other was $330.. Dunlop SP Sport 01.

they have been fitted on the front and seem to be quieter than the original michilens

I've got 160K on my Multivan and it's on it's second set of tyres... I got nearly 85K out the original 16" tyres. (Don't know what brand they are.) 75K on this set but these will be replaced soon... Lots of highway and dirt road driving as well... Current tyres are Toyo HO8 I think...
