Insulating my van

Ive layed the floor in my T4 and Im getting the seat/bed fitted and passenger seat swivel fitted this week so now Im going to start insulating the walls and roof.
What have people used? The carpet place told me cotton but im not sure thats right.
I was thinking silver backed stuff?

There's no shortage of different combinations with varying degrees of effectiveness against heat, cold or noise.
I was mostly concerned re noise, so I used Dynamat Extreme (there's other decent products out there and absolute crap like E Dead from Ebay so do some research) and then acoustic insulation bats available from any decent insulation retailer. (non irritant so not an issue inside my T5).
Once I carpet the walls, should be a very quiet van.

The "silver backed stuff" is dynamat. Very easy to use and an extremely good sound insulator. It's not super cheap but it's really good stuff.

That's the next job for me on the Caddy. Dynamat the floor and rear wheel arches.

X3 on the Dynamat, consider that its around $60 per square metre if you buy it in bulk packs. I hope that helps in your costing calculation and whether it'd be worthwhile to do so.

That is expensive but I spose you get what you pay for.
At the moment its just got the ply floor and lino (guy instaling the seat didnt want insulation under the ply and said I wouldnt need it, so Ive got the rest of the van to do.
I atleast want to do the roof in somthing that will keep the heat out first then noise. The rest is just about noise.

Vannin.....Dynamat is the ducks nuts. But there are other options.

Not necessarily cheaper ones but all the same....if you head to Whitworth Marine or BIAS Boating you'll find that they sell 'engine room insulation' in 1200 x 1000 x 25 sheets for about $80. This stuff provides both sound and heat insulation in one package. I've used it before in boats and it is a very very useful product. http://www.whitworths.com.au/main_it...AbsolutePage=1

I'd also argue that the floor area in the rear of the van is a major source of road noise and would benefit big time from insulation.
I have that E Dead crap on mine, with Dynamat Extreme over the wheel arches. I then have bituminous felt (from auto upholsterers or Ebay) over that, and then the VW rubber load mat.
The Dynamat or equivalent, and felt would then be able to go under your ply floor no worries.
Obviously depends on how far you want to take it.

Rova Im getting the seats done at Macron Campers at Ourimbah. He did mention where hes getting the pass from but I cant remember but as soon as I get my van back I will find out.
I went to autobarn today (to buy some windscreen shields to make up one for each window) and they said they have aeropro? $199 a roll not sure how much but they said it would do a whole car but its more sound deadening than heat.
