  • New Multivan Pricing

My T5 Highline Multivan is five years old in June 2010, and I have been considering whether to do a change to take advantage of uncle Kev's 50% largess and replace it with one of the new models.
I spoke with the Adelaide dealer, Solitaire, yesterday, and whilst they don't have exact pricing, they have been told there is a price rise of some 3%. As we have to order before the end of the year they are willing to take orders for the configuration you want, and for the 4-Motion model, take delivery some time after April, as the build will only start in week 12.
Expected price is something like $83K for the equivalent Highline 4-Motion, and will only be in 7 speed DSG guise.
They are willing to take an order, and if pricing does not turn out to be OK will allow you to not carry through on the purchase.
From my point of view, as long as they will allow this "out" it is worth taking a chance on a new one - I think. Have to make up my mind quickly.
    Golf V TDI 2005 - SOLD
    Volvo C30 D5 - I've got a hat as well!
    Multivan Highline T5 TDI 4Motion 2005
    Hond Civic VTI 2001

My dealer has mentioned a 5% increase. They will take your order and then absorb any increase over 5% or deduct from your purchase price the difference should it be below below 5%. The only problem is how do you "negotiate" a price, that is haggle, when there is no exact pricing set. You'll almost certainly be paying full retail. I don't think the dealer will accept a cancellation because of their offer to hand back any difference in increase should it be below 5%. The salesman said my order would be placed straight away hence can't cancel. Although I don't see how they can place an order with Germany now when full specs aren't available, eg the dealer ementioned "auto" headlights might be standard, not that this would make me rush and buy. I'm going to hang on until my warranty runs out in June '10, maybe trade-in or take out an extended warranty. The pain is I've worked out that with gst claim back and 50% tax deal it will amount to over $32K-34K in claimable deductions on the T5.5 that I'd look at buying without having to make any change in the repayments I make monthly, so the out of pocket amount doesn't change. I'll get numbers on change-over on Monday when the dealer looks at the nice orange engine warning light on the dash. VW Aust have stuffed up big time in this case.

      DO NOT RUSH!

The dealer does this to get your deposit quicker... never rush when buying, if you rush the dealer is in control, if you take it slow, you are in control.

Uncle Kev's 50% is till december 31st, plenty of time
build production early next year, plenty of time
this 'out' you speak of, make sure it is noted on the contract with your signature and the dealers....

Just an OT suggestion - have you checked your brake lights - if the brake light switch is cactus you can get all sorts of weird symptoms, many of which seem to be totally unrelated to the brakes.

I will check with my dealer on Monday to make sure there will be no hassle in cancelling if everything is not as it should be. The 50% investment allowance is pretty compelling.
