The day turned out OK despite a little rain/drizzle on a couple of brief occasions. For the record 210 Kombis registered with the longest distance travelled award going to an owner from South Australia.

Some photos from the day which may be of interest:

A special thanks to Melissa for drawing my attention to the following vehicle which is an import from the UK having doors on both sides and a carburettor engine.

Lastly, an indulgence on my part - my candidate for the faith, hope and perseverance Future Kombi Restoration Award.....

It was lovely to meet you SilverShadow.

The Old Bar event is a great weekend and we will be back again next year.

We even went and bought another T3 this afternoon. That makes a 75, 85, 89 and 2003 transporters and a 77 Golf.... I think I have a problem

Hi Melissa, it was also great to meet you and your impressive T4 - look forward to seeing more of your "T" collection next year. I will have to try and catch Special Air Service around Old Bar as he was very elusive.....

Local consensus is the format of this year's Festival was the best yet even though the weather stopped a lot of the classic cars and hot-rods participating on Saturday and kept Sunday's attendance down. The future of the Kombi World record will be in the hands of the water-cooled VW Transporter and derivatives enthusiasts - if every T owner who attended can bring another T owner who has not attended for each of the next two years then the Guinness record will be within reach. I think we are getting close to all the air-cooled Kombis we are likely to get especially if the trend to export these models detailed in the link below continues:

Very busy weekend for me David, entertaining my kids, family comes over as well, & catching up with friends from Mid North Coast Dub Club. Have look at the link for the club in my signature if you are interested.

My beetle had the big VW flag on it on Saturday & my T3 had it flying on the Sunday.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the Eos & say g'day when I see it.

              Cheers Brendan

No problem, just move up here and take advantage of the numerous properties with big sheds that are for sale .

                  Hi Brenden,

I saw your flag both days and thought these were your vehicles - the dash display in your Transporter was a great feature.

If you see the Eos, it will not be me driving - it is a year old at the end of this month and I still haven't driven it yet .

I cannot prise SWMBO out of the driving seat .

You are more likely to see me in a white Toyota 4Runner diesel 4WD "paddock basher" around the village.

                  Regards David
