  • Kombi Beach (4-Motion a real bonus) or Crewvan or T5 4-Motion? Anyone selling?

Well, I'm sure everyone here has considered these curly questions before. I'm in the market to upgrade from my beloved silver TDi300 (which has a folding 3 seater bench, sunroof and home built sleeping platform) to the additional creature comforts of a T5. I know the Kombi Beach is no longer available, but if you know anyone selling (or considering selling!) let me know. I'd quite happily upgrade to a Crewvan too. The black ones look great.

I do get out and about and usually sleep one or two nights in the van. I haven't done a big trip - yet.

Any Kombi Beach owners out there who wish they hadn't bought one (or vice versa). Likewise - any Crewvan owners happy with their purchase and sleep in it as well?

I'm also toying with a Caddy Life Camper... Black of course. But it does seem a rather cramped proposition.

Is 4-motion worth it? Or just hype.

All opinions and tips very much appreciated. Anyone considering selling or trading please get in touch!

I have 4Motion that I use as mobile workshop and I wouldn't like to buy 2WD vehicle ever. It is great in wet and other slippery conditions or when reversing onto the driveway that is steep and wet.
Good fuel economy too. I will be upgrading, but approximately in 4 years time, sorry. With the current low interest rate and government 50% rebate (if you have business) it would be worthwhile to buy a new one as well.

Have a look at the forum section "Cars for sale or wanted to buy", if you haven't done that already.

Yep, I'm thinking of taking up the PM's 50% offer as well! But could be persuaded if your price works out to be right too!

Do you reckon the 4-motion is the way to go? Have you tried off road? I'm not expecting 4wd performance, but is it possible to take it onto a beach a la old school Syncro Style?

From the replies so far, it seems 4motion is the way to go... Thanks.

4-mo definitely way to go. Feels safe and stable on the wet roads, and I have been on the sand at the beach. 174 Diesel and 4-mo is the best. Also corrugated dirt road in the NT - worked a treat - 120kph to get over the corrugations. (freaked the other half out though - I had to do the driving )

Is the middle row of seats easily removed from the rail/track system in a Mulitvan? And can the rear 3 seater bench be brought forward and folded flat so as to line up with a sleeping platform??? Could be an interesting proposition... Cheers.

Well, Shogun2, I just answered my own bedding question by visiting the "http://www.volkswagengroupaustralia....n_Gallery.html" link in another post. Have you ever slept on the seats all folded down? Looks very lumpy! If you're seriously thinking of selling, do email me... I've ready your sliding door play up though! Cheers.

Dealer's replacing the lock to fix the issue with the door. Hope it works. We haven't slept on the back seat, but we purchased a latex mattress to smooth out the lumps when we do.
I have to discuss with the other half before we consider selling the T5. We will fully own it this time next year. I've just replaced the Golf V TDI (with a Volvo C30 D5 Manual ), so it may not be possible to replace the Van any time soon. Maybe when the T6 comes out.

November 2007 we bought a T5 4-mo Crewvan for rally service duties. I love it! Had a bit of a medical thing that meant no driving a manual for the past six months, but when I can, I still get a buzz out of driving it. Of course the Oettinger flash may have something to do with it, but the 2.5 tdi just kicks!!!
