4 Motion Gear Stick

My gear stick has a chrome ring with "4 motion" printed in red. Anyway the print has worn off after six months and 10000ks.

I know its only cosmetic, however this is a $50000 vehicle, not a cheap chinese mobile phone.

Should I try to get it replaced under warranty? (the chrome ring, that is)Cheers.

I would and I would also be watching if the dashboard panels are aligned and would get it repaired ASAP.
My T5 came with ordinary gearstick knob and when I question that I was told that it was how they come to OZ.

Where would be wear and tear on other components that you touch more often? I think that they should replace it - 1 year is just very short time, they should make it more durable.

Mine is still fine after 96,000km (they weren't my 96,000kms but I'm sure the previous owner would have changed gears often enough during those 96,000km's)
Did you end up taking it up with VW?

Not yet, the red paint started to come off within a couple of months of new.
