    Hey Vanners,

has or is anyone having issues with a rough changing gear box.

I dont drive my van to often as wifes prime mover for the rug rats.

Any way I have notices rough change from 2nd to 3rd.

It also seems to hold all gear too long on both change up and change down.

This may be part of my problem with high fuel consumption.

VW say there is no software dates to fix this issue.

    Any Ideas ?????

Forget the software upgrades, have you been back to VW??? This can be a few things, simple adaption, or even an engine fault( eg throttle etc). Get them to run a data dump on your Van just to make sure. It is an adaptive gearbox ( constantly learning) so it will be relearning your driving style as opposed to your wifes.

I did got to the dealer and they spoke to VW Australia on the issue they came
back that there was nothing that they can do.
Thanks for the info on Adaptive Auto.

I will go back to them as im still not happy with the box.

Here is a thread from the UK Brickyard forum about problems with a (high mileage) T5 auto. Not sure if it is the same as your problem or not.

Hi Folks. Not sure if anyone on here knows much about the autobox fitted to the T5 130TDi. I hope they...

"Theres nothing we can do" WTF!!!! seriously they sound like a bunch of morons. Car is under warranty, car has problem....they MUST fix it. If it means a new gearbox then so be it. You fuel consumption figures alone show there is a problem with something and it needs to be fixed!!!

Have they had it plugged into the computer to find all fault codes? Maybe you should try another dealer.

              reset

I read on one of the forums which I can't find now that you can reset the auto to default so it can learn your habits from scratch.

I think the procedure was to hold the accelerator on the floor then turn on the ignition for >=10sec then off again.

Try searching the fixes and faqs on here and the brick-yard.

to reset the Trans Control Module (TCM) follow these steps:

                  1. Turn ignition to ON (do not start engine)
                  2. Press the gas pedal to the floor till it clicks
                  3. Hold the pedal for 15 seconds
                  4. Release pedal gently
                  5. Turn Key to Off
                  6. Start engine and drive as normal

By resetting the TCM, it will re-adapt to your driving style.

Absolutley right guys thats where i was going with the adaption. If all else fails you can readapt with VCDS (VagCom). Like some have metioned it should be the first thing the Dealer should try instead of saying they cant do anything, easy out i reckon. If they( the dealer) cant get it right then they should be looking into getting it right IMO.

                      Guys,

Good news the resetting of the TCM did part of the trick, my fuel consumption has come down from 16L/100 to low 12L/100.

Still having a dodgey change fron 2nd to 3rd.

I will get it back to the stealer after school holidays.

                      Thanks,
