  • Scanguage II won't connect

    I've just purchased a Scanguage II after reading on a couple of forums that people have connected them with success to T5's.

    I can't get mine to connect. I've tried it in auto mode where it detects how to communicate and I've forced it through each mode but it won't connect. It powers up and shows connecting but never gets connected.

    I've just tried my Vag-com and that works fine suggesting van and OBD connector are good.

    Anyone had similar issues? Anyone got a suggestion? Seems loads of people use these on many different VW models, why won't mine work?

    M van is a 2005 128kw

    Can you tell us what a 'Scanguage II' is and does?

    Never heard of one of these before.

    Cheers Rob

        I've used mine on my former Polo GTI, the wife's Golf GT TDI and my current Audi S3. Just used auto mode and it detected the connection. I then just made the fuel adjustment for diesel.

        Try yours on another VAG car, such as a Mk V Golf or current Polo to check if it is working

          Tried again last night after contacting the supplier but it still won't connect. my thoughts are as follows;

          Vag-com utilises the following protocols ISO 9141-2, ISO 14230 (KWP-2000), ISO 15765 (CAN). I believe Vag-com uses ISO 14230 (KWP-2000) to connect to my vehicle. Later transporters (2006 onwards I think) may use ISO15765 (CAN) and may work with Scanguage.

          I don't think Scanguage II supports ISO 14230 (KWP-2000), I've sent an e-mail to ask the question.

          Would be interested to try the scanguage on other vehicles particularly other VW's to prove the unit is not faulty, unfortunately my other Volkswagen is Pre-OBD.

            Where are you located? Why not go to Woodgers Garage in Hornsby (if in Sydney) to check?

              I'm in Perth (profile updated), Sydney would be a bit far.

                oh dear....well, unless there's another VWW person local, who you can try the gauge on, perhaps speak to your friendly dealer ??
