Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • T5 Multivan air conditioning

I am chasing some information on the T5 multivan A/c compressor and system.
The system has stopped cooling but all controlls seem to be working.Heater is operated when temp is set to high.
Checked with gauges gas is ok
Compressor looks to be direct drive and information in another forum suggested that no clutch fitted but control of gas flow is done by a swash plate in the compressor (very hard to see due to position of compressor )
If drive had failed would this be noticiable from external look at drive hub
What testes can be done to make sure that electrical signal is getting to compressor.(Hard to get at wiring with out major work)
Problem with no manuals and no one with experience on multivan in local area
    Any information would help

First check the A/c compressor fuse has not blown. This is mostly likely cause. Not use which one it is in the fuse box. The hand book should have the details.

    Regards,

    Scott
