  • Multivan Roof Racks

Thinking about getting some roof racks for the van. Does anyone have any? Any recommendations on brand/styles to look at?

They had some on ebay a while ago but they said they would not fit a Multivan only the work vans. I guess there must be a difference in the mounting system.

    Try Thule.

I have used Thule aero bars on my Golfs and VW vans for years.

I have the aero kit on my T5 Kombi Beach - four bars mounted at the eight hard points.

Search and you will find some pictures of my install.

    Cheers, MM

Are the mounting points different from a multivan to a beach to a work van?

Don't know what the others have, but the Multivan has a rail system down each side of the van. The racks sit into the rail and are locked in place with a screw system.

All T5 have roof hard points.

Multivan has the roof preparation kit installed at factory that provides slotted channels for roof racks. That is, you can fix the roof racks anywhere along the channel.

The roof prep kit is available for retro fitting.

Step up on your tyre and have a look at your roof. You should see the points with the cover screws fitted.

How much did the Rhinos cost? Are they easy to remove?

I fitted 3 Rola racks on my first T4 normal wheelbase as the windsurfer & gear spread the load along the length of the board without damaging the roof I fitted them myself on the outside of the channel in the roof as I could damage the paint if they were put down in the channel ,
Mounted With staino self tapper bolts & stickaflex they were not wind noisy I used the track system 500mm long each so they could be moved if needed or taken off real quick with the security studs that was part of the setup . .
Heavy loads were no worries as I would move the load over the rear on 2 racks & plywood sheeting to carry the load .
I miss them now with the Ex ambo high roof guess I cant have everything .
Long wheel base & stand up room is a great thing .

Ivo I picked up the rhino's super cheap as i do business with Rhino
As the multi has a full length rail you jus move it toward the closest gap a lift
                  them up.

Rhino has a great website for choosing racks.

                  I have the oval extrusion.

Thevwbug has an inside connection to Rhino...... any chance you can organise a group buy for us van owners within a few hours drive of Sydney? I would pay upfront.

                    No harm in asking!
