Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Can rear seats be installed in a T6 SWB 4motion Transporter?

I had a techsafe installer lined up to do the job, although he has just gotten back to me expressing doubt about installing in the 4motion model. He has only installed on the 2wd previously.
Is the 4motion chassis that much different?
Has anyone done this and can verify for me please?

@Markee I read through your very detailed and helpful thread. Was this a challenge you faced when you got your seats installed?

I am sure I replied to this exact same question on FB too.

I did have to drop the exhaust, tail shaft, heat shields and hand brake to get a two seater in mine.
Yes it is time consuming and even more for a three seater as you have to also drop the fuel tank.
But it is all doable for sure.
